Encerramento da Prisão de Guantánamo - Posição da OA
O combate ao terrorismo tem de efectuar-se em nome de valores que sejam aquisições irreversíveis da Humanidade. De entre esses valores emergem o princípio da legalidade em direito penal e, sobretudo, o do respeito absoluto pela dignidade da pessoa humana. É justamente aqui que se manifesta a superioridade moral dos estados modernos sobre as hordas, da Civilização sobre a Barbárie.
A Prisão de Guantánamo não permite a afirmação desta superioridade, pois fere de forma chocante aqueles valores essenciais às comunidades modernas.
Guantánamo representa em matéria de justiça um perigoso retrocesso civilizacional a que urge pôr termo.

CDL e CPR actuam em conjunto numa iniciativa de Solidariedade Social e Humanitária de ajuda aos requerentes de asilo
"O Conselho Distrital de Lisboa associa-se ao Conselho Português para os Refugiados (CPR) numa iniciativa de Solidariedade Social e Humanitária de ajuda a todos aqueles que procuram asilo em Portugal.
O CPR é uma Organização Não Governamental que tem como principal objectivo prestar apoio social e jurídico a requerentes de asilo e refugiados em Portugal
A 30 de Outubro de 2006, o CPR inaugurou um novo Centro de Acolhimento, construído de raiz e situado na Bobadela. Este equipamento social permite receber condignamente os refugiados, ao mesmo tempo que pretende servir a comunidade, uma vez que este espaço inclui uma Creche/Jardim de Infância/ATL, Polidesportivo descoberto e um jardim público.
O Centro de Acolhimento tem capacidade para alojar 34 requerentes de asilo. O Centro tem atingido e ultrapassado essa capacidade máxima, estando actualmente com 40 pessoas, incluindo 7 crianças.
No Centro, os residentes cozinham as suas próprias refeições, recebendo para isso, semanalmente um pequeno apoio financeiro do CPR para comprar os seus produtos alimentares. Este apoio tem-se revelado insuficiente, e o CPR não conseguiu, até agora, aumentá-lo, por ser uma instituição sem fins lucrativos.
O CDL apela a todos os Advogados e Advogados-Estagiários que participem com um “Gesto de Solidariedade Social e Humanitária” através da oferta de:

Arroz (o mais requisitado), massas, manteiga, conservas, …
.
Artigos de higiene
sabonetes, escovas e pastas dentífricas, shampôs,...
Os donativos devem ser entregues na Rua dos Anjos nº 79ª - R/C, das 9.30h às 12.30h e das 14.00h às 20h30, até 29 de Fevereiro pf.

EU Action against trafficking in human beings
"Every year, thousands of women, children and men are victims of human trafficking, whether for sexual exploitation or other purposes, both within and beyond the borders of their country. This phenomenon has taken on such unprecedented proportions that it can be described as a new form of slavery.
The Council of Europe Campaign to Combat Trafficking in Human Beings was launched in 2006 under the slogan 'Human being – not for sale!' The Campaign aims to raise awareness, among governments, parliamentarians, local and regional authorities, NGOs and civil society, of the extent of the problem.
The goal of the Council of Europe campaign, which ended in February 2008, was for all countries to adopt the European Anti Trafficking Convention and provide the strongest possible international defense against trafficking.
The Convention is a comprehensive treaty focusing on the protection of victims of trafficking and the safeguarding of their rights. It also aims to prevent trafficking and to prosecute traffickers. In addition, the Convention sets up of an effective and independent mechanism to monitor that the states respect their obligations."

Em defesa dos activistas de direitos humanos na Sérvia
"The International Bar Association (IBA)’s Human Rights Institute has expressed grave concern for the safety of prominent human rights defenders in Serbia, following comments made by political party leaders inciting action against them.
The IBA Executive Director Mark Ellis stated, ‘We are witnessing an extremely worrying turn in Serbia. Given the current high level of tension in Serbia, political party leaders must refrain from making statements that may inflame actions against human rights defenders. Of specific concern to the IBA are incendiary comments made by politicians that may directly endanger the life of the renowned lawyer Natasa Kandic.’
‘I am distressed at this personal attack on Natasa Kandic. She should be recognised by all the leaders of Serbia as a national asset. Her courageous work and her right to speak in support for human rights in Serbia and the Balkans should be protected by them. The statement by Mr Dacic is a negation of the principles that Serbia should seek to pursue in its quest to strengthen its new democracy,’ added Justice Richard Goldstone, Co-Chair of the IBA Human Rights Institute.
The IBA reminds Serbian authorities of their obligations under international law to protect and uphold human rights. Serbia is party to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), which enshrines the inherent right that ‘any advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination hostility or violence shall be prohibited by law.’
The IBA calls on the Serbian authorities to take immediate action to stop such inflammatory statements and to ensure those responsible for making comments inciting violence against human rights defenders are accountable. The IBA further calls on the authorities to ensure that human rights defenders are provided security and protected against any attack.
